Welcome To Phoenix Park Lipizzaners

‘The home of several premier Lipizzaner horses’

Wayne & Amanda Klaassen and their family

Phoenix Park is a family owned and operated Stud established in 2005. It is located in Inman Valley on the picturesque Fleurieu Peninsula overlooking the southern coast of South Australia. It is on this peninsula, that the Lipizzaner Horse was first introduced to Australia in 1975 by Geoff Adcock of Mount Compass. This peninsular was specifically chosen for Lipizzaner breeding, as it’s Karst landscape replicates Slovenia, the home of the Lipizzaner since 1580. Phoenix Park carry on this legacy, with many of the original imported lines available at their Stud Farm.

Stallion Lines currently available are Siglavy, Conversano, Favory, Pluto and Maestoso. Mare Lines currently in use are Stornella/Fistula, Gidrane/Gidraine, 4sz Mezohegyesi and Spadiglia.

Phoenix Park has now grown into one of the largest pure bred Lipizzaner studs in Australia, consisting of several stallions and mares. It is the hub of most of Australian and New Zealand breeding, enabling other breeders to utilize horses for genetic diversity within a single facility. Phoenix Park has grown to become the current home of Australasian Co-operative Lipizzaner Breeding, a goal of the Australian Lipizzaner Registry, now realised by its members.

Epona Stud (New Zealand), Achelo Stud (South Queensland), Centaur Connection (North Queensland), Annwn Park (New South Wales), Libertas Lipizzaners (Australian Capital Territory) and Morgan Lipizzaners (New South Wales) all utilise the co-operative framework, making this one of the most unique joint endeavors seen throughout the world. Its sole purpose - the prosperity of the endangered Lipizzaner Horse Breed.

Young stock for breeding, pleasure and equestrian sports are available to approved homes.

Wayne, Amanda and their family are all committed to the long-term future and genetic diversity of this famous baroque breed in Australia. They support all three Lipizzaner Registries in the Asia Pacific Region and welcome any enquiries about this incredible breed.
